Open Space in Brussels and the EU context

Brussels brings together institutional complexity, many languages and stakeholders from many countries. Those are the conditions under which Open Space works best. I facilitate Open Space and unconferences in English or Dutch, for EU bodies, associations, summits and large organisations.

Where I have done this

  • An EU agency in Luxembourg (2024): a two-day programme combining Open Space with Liberating Structures, about 20 participants, designed and delivered together with a colleague, as a subcontractor.
  • Liberating Structures Global Gathering, Brussels (19–20 June 2025): two days entirely in Open Space format, around 60 practitioners from several countries, in English. I co-organised and facilitated it.
  • A large financial institution in Brussels (2020–2021): Open Space used repeatedly within a digital transformation.
  • LeanCamp Brussels (2017): an unconference I organised and facilitated, around 50 participants.

For summits and association events

Many summits in Brussels already want participants to shape part of the agenda. An Open Space does that with a clear structure: a circle, a marketplace, and sessions the participants propose themselves. It can be half a day within your programme, a full day, or several days.

What makes it work is settled beforehand: the urgent question, the givens, and a sponsor who stands behind the invitation. See the formats.
